| About St Matthews |
|
St Matthew's is located in the town of Kilmarnock in the East Ayrshire region of Scotland. It was founded in 1974 to serve the needs of the then developing housing estate in New Farm Loch, Kilmarnock. The church building was opened in 1977 and the current presbytery added a year or two later. There have been 3 parish priests during the years the parish has been in existence. The first was Fr Pat McSorley who, in 1985, moved to St Teresa's in Dumfries. He was replaced by Fr Joe Boland who served at St Matthew's for 24 years before moving to St Bride's in West Kilbride in October 2009. The present parish priest is Fr Martin Chambers.
