Please come along: some parishioners come to assist and others come to share a lunch with the homeless. Either way, it’s a good Parish event. BAPTISM TALK: The next talk will take place in the Church THIS Monday, 8th March at 7pm. Anyone wishing to have their children baptised should speak to Fr. Martin before attending this talk. FIRST RECONCILIATION: The children preparing for Communion and Confirmation will celebrate First Reconciliation on Tuesday, 9th March at 7pm in the Church. All parishioners are invited to this special event.
Stations of the Cross: This week there will a focus on SCIAF for Thursday Stations at 7pm. ‘JUST CHURCH’ COURSE: The next session will take place in the Church Hall THIS Thursday, 11th March at 7.30pm. Even if you haven’t yet taken part, please think about coming along to this opportunity to reflect on Justice Issues in the light of the Gospel.
FAIR TRADE: To coincide with SCIAF Sunday, there will be Fair Trade goods on sale after Mass next weekend. PRIZE BINGO: This will take place NEXT Sunday, 14th March at 7pm. All the usual ‘fun of the fayre’. This is the first event from the renewed Social Committee. Your support is needed. We need prizes so please hand them into the Church in the box provided. Come along and make it a great evening.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS: Fr. Martin invites ALL Eucharistic Ministers to a special meeting on Tuesday, 16th March at 7pm. A chance to pray and reflect on the ministry.
WOMEN’S SPIRITUALITY GROUP: The next meeting takes place on Wednesday, 17th March at 2pm in the Committee Room. PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL: Please note the change of date - the next meeting of this Council is now Thursday, 18th March after Mass. PRIESTS FOR SCOTLAND: A competition has been set up looking for Contemporary images of the Diocesan Priest. Over £1,000 is available in prizes. For more information see www.priestsforscotland.org.uk GONZAGA LECTURES: These lectures examine the relationship between religion and society from a historical and current perspective. They take place at St. Aloysius’ College, Glasgow. Details on poster in porch DISCUSSION QUESTION: Many people seeking sanctuary in the UK are destitute. No one knows exactly how many people have been left destitute at the end of the asylum process, without any status, permission to work, or access to benefits. So: How can the system of asylum-processing be improved to be swifter and fairer? What are the alternatives to the detention of children and families of people seeking sanctuary? CANON McSORLEY: Will be celebrating his Golden Jubilee this June. St. Quivox Parish in Prestwick are looking for old photos and stories from his time as our Parish Priest. Photos (which will be returned) and stories can be handed in to Fr. Martin YEAR OF PRIESTS: In this special year for priests, we pray for God’s blessing on the priests of our own Diocese. Today we pray for the repose of the soul of Canon John Walls of St. Theresa’s, Dumfries who passed away this week.
