GENERAL INTERCESSIONS
3rd SUNDAY OF LENT - YEAR C6th/7th March 2010 Priest: In today’s readings we see God offering Moses new life. This new life is offered to all of us and so with confidence we present our prayers to the Lord … Reader: 1. We pray for ourselves: as we make our way through this season of Lent may we recognise our sinful ways and thoughts and change ourselves so that we can closer to God. LORD, HEAR US … 2. God offers the world “a land where milk and honey flow“. We pray that our community in Kilmarnock will put aside bitter and bigoted ways and cling to God’s values which alone bring hope and peace. LORD, HEAR US … 3. We pray for all those in our community who find themselves homeless and without family or friends to support them: may they find help, food and shelter; and may they also find long-term hope.LORD, HEAR US … 4. As our dead are brought home from wars abroad, we pray for their eternal rest and that our leaders may urgently seek peace for our needy world. We pray also for all our family and friends who have died.LORD, HEAR US … 5. In our season of Lenten charity, we pray for all those in our world who are forced to live in an undignified way … without food, clothes or shelter. May our efforts through SCIAF help to ease their burden.LORD, HEAR US .. 6. And now for our own needs we pray in silence.. Priest: Father of love, hear our prayers and lead us to the place of hope, your land of peace where milk and honey flow. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
